What is "Parent Training" for Special Needs Children?Parent Training is a program that specializes in involving the parents, guardians, and caretakers of those individuals with autism in their different therapies. It is a vital part of one’s therapy. Parent training can range from videotaping a session and sharing it with the parents to giving them advice on how to implement skills at home, and much more. Research has recently shows that when guardians are involved in the process of therapy, the outcomes have been more positive. A therapist can teach an individual many skills, however if they are not being repeated and continued, then one will either lose the skill or they will only show it in front of a therapist. Parent training will not only positively impact the one with autism but the caretaker as well.
