What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy is a therapy used to help individuals engage and take part in what they want through the use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy is often used to help those individuals with disabilities participate in school and other social situations. Many occupational therapy services will include an evaluation that is individualized where the therapist will determine the goal of an individual, a special intervention that will be personalized to help that individual reach his/her goals, and an outcomes evaluation that check’s to see if goals are being reached. The overall goal of occupational therapy is to enable one to gain their own independence and engage in a fuller lifestyle.
