Dr. Diamond completed his undergraduate studies at UC Davis. He received his Master’s degree and Ph.D. (1981) from the California School of Professional Psychology in Berkeley, CA. After graduate school, he was offered a fellowship with the US Navy and worked at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, and at Miramar NAS, San Diego. As a practicing psychologist for over 30 years, Dr. Diamond has provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families. Dr. Diamond is a psychodynamically oriented psychotherapist who also utilizes cognitive restructuring and behavioral therapy. He is one of the most direct as well as one of the funniest therapists with whom you will have the pleasure of working. He is also a dynamic public speaker. Having a positive approach to both therapy and life, Dr. Diamond tends to view problems as challenges and not roadblocks to the people he sees. He has found that this viewpoint is particularly helpful in working with adolescents and assisting in parenting issues. Dr. Diamond has specialized training for critical incident debriefing and was one of the first psychologists to leave California to assist with crisis intervention after 9/11 in New York City. He is married and is the proud father of two wonderful boys.
